Seeing as Mr. Grisham and I have ‘kissed and made up’, I reckoned I was brave enough to take on a double dose of his books.

Having just finished The Brethren, I am now currently reading The Testament.

The reader is introduced to three main characters: Troy Phelan, the self-made but eccentric billionaire who hates his family so much that he even orchestrates his final moments, just to spite them all.

There’s Nate O’Riley, a litigator who’s spent his life working hard and playing even harder, leaving destruction in his wake. He’s just finished a fourth spell in rehab, and has some tough choices to make when he gets out.

Then there’s Rachel Lane, a missionary who willingly gave up the wealth and trappings of Western civilisation to live and work with the Indians of the Pantanal in Brazil.

As you would expect, their lives and stories connect.

But as I read on, I kept waiting for something big to happen, and it never did. Yes, there was suspense, but I guess I was waiting for the author to rock my world at the end of it.

And he didn’t.

He is still a great storyteller though. Available on Amazon.
